Why subscribe?

White-Knuckling Calm is a free newsletter for those of us who are trying to so tightly hold onto peace and calm while navigating the stresses of modern life. (Spoiler alert: It doesn’t work that way.) It’s borne of my own Small Nervous Breakdown and my continuing journey to heal myself and find a better way of living my life. 

For so long I felt on the verge of burnout and then, in a single day, a combination of breathing difficulty, being overmedicated by doctors, and medical trauma pushed my nervous system over the edge. I spent the coming months first just trying to breathe and survive the day, then focusing on healing my body and mind, and finally trying to learn all I could about my nervous system and how our physical, emotional and mental wellness are so strongly linked. 

Since sharing my story, I’ve heard from so many…most have very different stories, but the simple act of sharing these stories is what makes us feel more connected. I’m writing here to spark more conversations. I’m writing here to feel less alone about my darkest times. I’m writing here so maybe you, too, will feel less alone in your dark times.
